Review
Ferzina. I'm told you've finished the basics — let's see what stuck. Three tasks: a capture, a check, a mate. You already know everything you need; the only question is whether you see it on the board. Hints are available, but I'll remember how many times you peeked.
Let's start simple. The black knight decided the d-file was a safe place. It was wrong: your rook stands on the same line, and the path between them is clear. A long-range piece strikes across half the board — opponents forget this constantly. Take the knight.
Clean. You saw the line at once — noted.
Now a check. The black king has settled on b8 and thinks he's far away. A reminder: the queen strikes along both straight lines and diagonals, so she has more paths to the king than it seems. Find the line that runs straight into b8 and give check.
Check. They felt it on b8. Next.
