How to recognize this tactic
A discovered attack fires when one piece steps aside and unmasks the piece behind it. Look for your own units that block a rook, bishop or queen: moving the front piece — ideally with a threat of its own — springs two attacks in one move.
A pin freezes a piece in front of a more valuable one behind it. Scan the ranks, files and diagonals your bishop, rook or queen controls: if an enemy piece cannot move without exposing its king or queen, it is pinned and can be piled on or bypassed.
Here the task is defensive: one of your pieces is under attack and must be rescued without losing more. Look for a move that saves it with tempo — a counter-check, an equal counter-attack or an interposition — rather than a passive retreat.
General method: before you move, list the forcing candidates — every check, every capture, every direct threat — and calculate those first. The solution to a tactic is almost always among them.

मात को टालना: विरोधी मात से एक चाल दूर है — पर अभी बारी आपकी है, और यही सब कुछ बदल देता है। ऐसा बचाव खोजें जो मात की धमकी भी हटाए और आपकी बढ़त भी बचाए: अक्सर यह शह या जवाबी धमकी होती है, जो मात के लिए वक़्त ही नहीं छोड़ती। पहले ठीक-ठीक वह खाना बताएँ जहाँ आपको मात दी जाएगी — वरना बचाव अंधे का होगा। ग़लती — ऐसी बचावी चाल चलना जो धमकी को असल में हटाती ही नहीं।
