How to recognize this tactic
A discovered attack fires when one piece steps aside and unmasks the piece behind it. Look for your own units that block a rook, bishop or queen: moving the front piece — ideally with a threat of its own — springs two attacks in one move.
General method: before you move, list the forcing candidates — every check, every capture, every direct threat — and calculate those first. The solution to a tactic is almost always among them.

ディスカバードアタックはカーテンのように働きます。一つの駒が線上から退くと、その後ろの長距離駒の攻撃が姿を現すのです。妙味は、動いた駒自身がもう一つの脅威を作れることにあります。一手で二つの攻撃です。自分の重ねた組を探しましょう。ナイトやポーンの後ろにビショップやルークがいて、その先に価値ある標的が透けて見える形です。前の駒は最も攻撃的なマスへ送りましょう。第二の脅威のない開き攻撃は威力が半減します。
スペース空け
テンポを稼ぎながら自分の駒をどかし、決定打への道を開きます。
クリアランス（進路開放）は、決定的な一撃の邪魔をしているのが自分の駒である場合の手筋です。その駒をどかすか、いっそ捨ててしまいます。鍵はテンポを伴って退くこと。チェックや駒取り、脅威を伴って跳びのけば、相手に立て直す時間を与えません。目印はこうです。クイーンやルークの強烈な一手が見えているのに、必要な線やマスを自分の駒が塞いでいる。惜しんではいけません。開放の犠牲は、逃した攻撃よりたいてい安上がりです。
