Le motif tactique
Fourchette : une pièce attaque deux cibles à la fois — impossible de sauver les deux.

How to recognize this tactic
A fork is one piece attacking two targets at once. Look for a knight, pawn or queen move that lands where it hits the king (or a bigger piece) and a second undefended unit on the same turn — the opponent can save only one.
General method: before you move, list the forcing candidates — every check, every capture, every direct threat — and calculate those first. The solution to a tactic is almost always among them.
Position sur l'échiquier
Blancs : roi g1, tour f1 f2, cavalier e3, pion a2 g2 d3 e4.
Noirs : roi g7, dame d4, tour e8, pion c5 c6 a7 c7 f7.
Il y a 8 pièces blanches et 8 noires sur l'échiquier ; la position du problème survient après le coup 28.
The position in numbers
Black are ahead by 2 points of material (17 against 19; pawn = 1, knight and bishop = 3, rook = 5, queen = 9) — the tactic has to convert or outweigh that.
The white king stands on g1, the black king on g7.
It is White to move on move 28, with 27 legal replies to weigh — only the line that keeps the advantage solves the puzzle.
White keeps 4 pawns, Black 5. Files fully open (no pawns of either colour): b, h — natural highways for the rooks and queen. Half-open for White: c, f.
The White king has 2 empty squares to step to right now — the fewer they are, the closer a mating net.
Solution et explication
Ligne principale
28. Nf5+ Kg8 29. Nxd4
Pourquoi ça marche
- Excellent coup ! cavalier en f5 maintient la pression (+6.8).
- Excellent coup ! cavalier en d4 maintient la pression (+6.8).
- Vous gagnez une pièce : dame.
- Si à la place Kg8, alors Nxd4 et vous gagnez dame.
Move by move
- 28. Nf5+ — cavalier to f5 with check
- Kg8 — roi to g8
- 29. Nxd4 — cavalier to d4 (capture)
Types de ce problème
Fourchette royale
