Le motif tactique
Fourchette : une pièce attaque deux cibles à la fois — impossible de sauver les deux.

How to recognize this tactic
A fork is one piece attacking two targets at once. Look for a knight, pawn or queen move that lands where it hits the king (or a bigger piece) and a second undefended unit on the same turn — the opponent can save only one.
General method: before you move, list the forcing candidates — every check, every capture, every direct threat — and calculate those first. The solution to a tactic is almost always among them.
Position sur l'échiquier
Blancs : roi g1, dame c3, tour d1, pion b3 e3 g4.
Noirs : roi f7, dame d7, pion a5 b5 d5 g6 h7.
Il y a 6 pièces blanches et 7 noires sur l'échiquier ; la position du problème survient après le coup 35.
The position in numbers
White are ahead by 3 points of material (17 against 14; pawn = 1, knight and bishop = 3, rook = 5, queen = 9) — the tactic has to convert or outweigh that.
The white king stands on g1, the black king on f7.
It is Black to move on move 35, with 23 legal replies to weigh — only the line that keeps the advantage solves the puzzle.
White keeps 3 pawns, Black 5. Files fully open (no pawns of either colour): c, f — natural highways for the rooks and queen. Half-open for Black: e.
The Black king has 5 empty squares to step to right now — the fewer they are, the closer a mating net.
Solution et explication
Ligne principale
35... Qxg4+ 36. Kf2 Qxd1
Pourquoi ça marche
- Excellent coup ! dame en g4 maintient la pression (+2.3).
- Excellent coup ! dame en d1 maintient la pression (+2.3).
- Vous gagnez une pièce : tour.
- Si à la place Kf2, alors Qxd1 et vous gagnez tour.
Move by move
- 35… Qxg4+ — dame to g4 (capture) with check
- 36. Kf2 — roi to f2
- Qxd1 — dame to d1 (capture)
Types de ce problème
Fourchette royale
