Le motif tactique
Fourchette : une pièce attaque deux cibles à la fois — impossible de sauver les deux.
Clouage : une pièce ne peut pas bouger sans exposer une pièce plus précieuse derrière elle.

How to recognize this tactic
A fork is one piece attacking two targets at once. Look for a knight, pawn or queen move that lands where it hits the king (or a bigger piece) and a second undefended unit on the same turn — the opponent can save only one.
A pin freezes a piece in front of a more valuable one behind it. Scan the ranks, files and diagonals your bishop, rook or queen controls: if an enemy piece cannot move without exposing its king or queen, it is pinned and can be piled on or bypassed.
General method: before you move, list the forcing candidates — every check, every capture, every direct threat — and calculate those first. The solution to a tactic is almost always among them.
Position sur l'échiquier
Blancs : roi h2, dame d2, tour e3 g3, pion a2 b2 c2 f2 d3 f3 h4.
Noirs : roi c8, dame f4, tour d6, cavalier d4, pion e5 h5 a7 b7 c7 g7.
Il y a 11 pièces blanches et 10 noires sur l'échiquier ; la position du problème survient après le coup 23.
The position in numbers
White are ahead by 3 points of material (26 against 23; pawn = 1, knight and bishop = 3, rook = 5, queen = 9) — the tactic has to convert or outweigh that.
The white king stands on h2, the black king on c8.
It is Black to move on move 23, with 42 legal replies to weigh — only the line that keeps the advantage solves the puzzle.
White keeps 7 pawns, Black 6. No file is fully open, so the heavy pieces have to be pried in. Half-open for Black: d, f.
The Black king has 3 empty squares to step to right now — the fewer they are, the closer a mating net.
Solution et explication
Ligne principale
23... Nxf3+ 24. Rxf3 Qxd2
Pourquoi ça marche
- Excellent coup ! cavalier en f3 maintient la pression (+5.1).
- Excellent coup ! dame en d2 maintient la pression (+5.1).
- Vous gagnez une pièce : dame.
- Si à la place Rxf3, alors Qxd2 et vous gagnez dame.
Move by move
- 23… Nxf3+ — cavalier to f3 (capture) with check
- 24. Rxf3 — tour to f3 (capture)
- Qxd2 — dame to d2 (capture)
Types de ce problème
Fourchette royale
