Le motif tactique
Fourchette : une pièce attaque deux cibles à la fois — impossible de sauver les deux.

How to recognize this tactic
A fork is one piece attacking two targets at once. Look for a knight, pawn or queen move that lands where it hits the king (or a bigger piece) and a second undefended unit on the same turn — the opponent can save only one.
General method: before you move, list the forcing candidates — every check, every capture, every direct threat — and calculate those first. The solution to a tactic is almost always among them.
Position sur l'échiquier
Blancs : roi f4, dame f7, tour a1 c1, cavalier f6, pion a2 c3 e3 d4 g4 f5.
Noirs : roi d6, dame c7, tour h2 h3, fou d7, cavalier e7, pion d5 e6 a7 b7.
Il y a 11 pièces blanches et 10 noires sur l'échiquier ; la position du problème survient après le coup 30.
The position in numbers
Black are ahead by 1 points of material (28 against 29; pawn = 1, knight and bishop = 3, rook = 5, queen = 9) — the tactic has to convert or outweigh that.
The white king stands on f4, the black king on d6.
It is White to move on move 30, with 31 legal replies to weigh — only the line that keeps the advantage solves the puzzle.
White keeps 6 pawns, Black 4. Files fully open (no pawns of either colour): h — natural highways for the rooks and queen. Half-open for White: b.
The White king has 1 empty squares to step to right now — the fewer they are, the closer a mating net.
Solution et explication
Ligne principale
30. Ne8+ Kc6+ 31. Nxc7
Pourquoi ça marche
- Excellent coup ! cavalier en e8 maintient la pression (+5.1).
- Excellent coup ! cavalier en c7 maintient la pression (+5.4).
- Vous gagnez une pièce : dame.
- Si à la place Kc6+, alors Nxc7 et vous gagnez dame.
Move by move
- 30. Ne8+ — cavalier to e8 with check
- Kc6+ — roi to c6 with check
- 31. Nxc7 — cavalier to c7 (capture)
Types de ce problème
Fourchette royale
