How to recognize this tactic
A double attack threatens two things at once so the opponent cannot parry both. Look for a single move — often a queen or knight — that creates two separate threats, such as a check plus an attack on a loose piece.
A mate in one hides among forcing checks. Run through every check you can give: does it cover all the king's escape squares, is the checking piece safe or supported, and can nothing block or capture it? If yes, that is the mate.
General method: before you move, list the forcing candidates — every check, every capture, every direct threat — and calculate those first. The solution to a tactic is almost always among them.

दोहरी शह से मात: आख़िरी चाल एक साथ दो मोहरों से शह देती है, और राजा के पास कुछ नहीं बचता। दोहरी शह के आगे मार और आड़ दोनों बेबस हैं — सिर्फ़ राजा की चाल बचाती है, और यहाँ जाने को कहीं नहीं। ऐसी खुली शह खोजें जिसमें चलने वाला मोहरा भी शह दे: वह तो निशाने पर पड़े खाने पर भी बेधड़क उतर सकता है। इसीलिए दोहरी शह सबसे सुंदर बलिदानी कॉम्बिनेशनों का ताज बनती है।

एक चाल में मात: कॉम्बिनेशन पीछे छूट चुका है, बस आख़िरी सटीक निशाना बाक़ी है। तरीक़ा सरल है — अपनी सारी शहें गिनाएँ और हर एक के लिए राजा के तीन बचाव जाँचें: भागना, आड़ लेना, शह देने वाले को मारना। तीनों बेकार हों, तो यही मात है। आम ग़लती है पहली मिली शह पर फ़िदा हो जाना और इकलौती खिड़की न देखना।
