How to recognize this tactic
Deflection drags a defender away from its duty. Identify the enemy piece that guards a key square or mate, then force it to move — with a check, a capture or a threat it must answer — and strike where it no longer defends.
General method: before you move, list the forcing candidates — every check, every capture, every direct threat — and calculate those first. The solution to a tactic is almost always among them.

ディフレクション（そらし）は番人を持ち場から追い払う手筋です。サクリファイスや交換によって、守っている駒やマスから引き離します。まず要の守り手を見つけましょう。その駒がいなくなればメイトや駒得が実現する、という駒です。次に、その駒が無視できない手を探します。たいていは駒取りです。駒を出し惜しみしないこと。番人の排除でクイーンが取れるかメイトになるなら、犠牲は何倍にもなって返ってきます。
ルーク終盤
最もよく現れる終盤——すべては駒の活動性で決まります。
ルーク終盤は実戦で最も多い終盤です。盤上にはルークとポーン。第一の法則は活動性です。パスポーンの後ろにいるルークは、ポーンの子守りをする受け身のルークに勝ります。正しいプランの印は、あなたのルークが何かを守っているのではなく、何かを攻撃していることです。典型的な誤りはルークをポーン防衛に縛り付けること。ポーンを一つ手放してでも、ルークとキングの活動性を保つほうがよい場合が多いのです。
